Description
The Peony Raised Sauce Dish features a graceful indigo peony in full bloom, painted with delicate detail on glossy white porcelain. Its tall pedestal base lifts the dish above the table, and a few blue blossoms dot the inner wall around the central flower.
Made by Fukuju Kiln, this Japanese sauce dish is Arita ware, part of a porcelain tradition that began in Arita in the early 17th century. Soy sauce, pickles, small sweets, condiments, and nuts all fit neatly inside, and away from the table it can hold small accessories on a dresser. The deep walls keep sauces from spilling over, and the pedestal base raises the peony above the plates around it.
The peony is known in Japan as the king of flowers and has long stood for wealth and prosperity, which makes this petite dish a fitting choice for seasonal and celebratory meals as well as daily use. Its blue-and-white design pairs easily with other Japanese dishware.

Arita Ware
Arita ware, Japan’s first porcelain, originated in the early 17th century in the town of Arita, Saga Prefecture. Using pure porcelain stone sourced from the mountains of Amakusa, artisans created brilliantly white ceramics that quickly became celebrated for their beauty and strength. During the Edo period, Arita grew into a major center of porcelain production, with its works exported to Europe through the port of Imari, where they captivated collectors and royal courts alike. Today, Arita ware continues to embody the harmony of artistry and function, bringing timeless elegance to modern dining around the world.Sauce Dish
Tiny plates are useful in a number of ways. They're handy dishes for holding condiments, dry seasonings like salt and pepper, soy sauce for sashimi, small delicacies, or pickles. Mini plates are also quite popular to collect thanks to their compact size, variety of designs, and visual impact on the dining table.Shipping & Return
