Keep bread fresh longer with the Japanese Paulownia Wood Bread Storage Box (1.5 Loaf), thoughtfully crafted in Japan. Originally used to protect treasured kimono, tea ceremony utensils, and other valuable belongings, paulownia wood is naturally valued in Japan for its moisture-regulating properties and resistance to insects. Today, those same qualities make it an excellent choice for storing bread and other pantry staples.

Sized to hold a standard 1.5-loaf shokupan, this storage box helps create a stable environment by naturally absorbing excess humidity when the air is damp and releasing it as conditions become drier. The lightweight lid features a durable Sanada-himo fabric loop, making it easy to open with one hand while keeping your bread conveniently accessible. Beyond bread, it’s also ideal for storing crackers, rice crackers, dried foods, coffee beans, or tea.

The Japanese Paulownia Wood Bread Storage Box (1.5 Loaf) combines timeless Japanese craftsmanship with practical everyday function, bringing natural beauty and thoughtful food storage to your kitchen.

Masuda Kiribako

Founded in 1929 in Fukuoka Prefecture, Masuda Kiribako began making paulownia wood boxes for traditional crafts such as Hakata dolls and shamisen instruments. The workshop later expanded to create tea utensils, rice containers, and everyday goods. Now led by the third generation, it blends traditional woodworking with modern design to craft functional pieces that showcase the natural beauty and benefits of paulownia wood.

FAQ

Can I add a gift message to my order?

Yes. You may add a personalized gift message of up to 250 characters at checkout — it is printed on a card and included inside the package. Prices and order details are never shown on the card or anywhere in the shipment, so the recipient sees only your message and the gift itself.

Will my order be wrapped as a gift?

Yes. Every JOC Goods order is wrapped in a traditional Japanese furoshiki cloth before shipping at no extra charge — both gifts and personal orders. If your order includes many or large items, the furoshiki may be packed inside the box rather than wrapped around them. Prices are never included in any shipment.
