The Snowflake Arare Dessert Bowl & Saucer Set is covered in raised dots, a pattern known in Japan as arare, or hailstones. In the clear pressed glass, each dot catches the light and scatters it across the surface, much like snowflakes glittering under winter sunlight. A starburst design radiates from the foot of the bowl and the center of the saucer.

The crystal-clear bowl suits fresh fruit, chilled desserts, or Japanese sweets such as anmitsu, while the saucer works as a small plate for confections or appetizers.

The set comes from Hirota Glass, which has been making glassware in Tokyo since 1899. Its sparkle and clean, colorless glass make it a thoughtful gift for glassware lovers.

Dessert Bowl

This small bowl is adaptable for any course. It's an ideal size to serve desserts and sweets. For the main meal, it can hold sunomono (vinegared salad), aemono (dressed dish), nimono (simmered dish), or chinmi (special delicacy). It makes a good individual dish for hot pot or when serving a small portion from a large platter. Small bowls in different shapes and colors add personality and variety to your tablescape.

FAQ

Can I add a gift message to my order?

Yes. You may add a personalized gift message of up to 250 characters at checkout — it is printed on a card and included inside the package. Prices and order details are never shown on the card or anywhere in the shipment, so the recipient sees only your message and the gift itself.

Will my order be wrapped as a gift?

Yes. Every JOC Goods order is wrapped in a traditional Japanese furoshiki cloth before shipping at no extra charge — both gifts and personal orders. If your order includes many or large items, the furoshiki may be packed inside the box rather than wrapped around them. Prices are never included in any shipment.
