Description

The Lined Decagon Dessert Bowl brings refined elegance to the table with its striking chrysanthemum-inspired form. Handcrafted in Hasami Ware, this porcelain piece features ten gently curving sides that echo the shape of a blossoming flower. Each facet is carefully outlined by hand in vivid red or deep blue, creating a simple yet captivating contrast against the pure white glaze.

In Japanese culture, the chrysanthemum has long symbolized longevity and renewal, and it remains the emblem of the Imperial family. This bowl carries that heritage into modern dining, blending tradition with clean, contemporary lines. Its steeply sloped sides give it a graceful depth, making it well-suited for desserts such as sorbets, fruits, or ice creams, while also versatile enough for small appetizers or side dishes.

With its timeless design and cultural resonance, the Lined Decagon Dessert Bowl offers both practicality and artistry, turning everyday moments into occasions touched with quiet beauty.

More Details

Kourin Kiln

Founded in 1987 by potter Mitsuaki Ezoe, Kourin Kiln creates tableware that celebrates the serene beauty of hand-painted Gosu, the traditional cobalt-blue pigment used in Japanese ceramics. Each piece is painted by hand without stamps or transfers, using the kiln’s own pigments to bring subtle depth and individuality to every design. The smooth white porcelain and flowing blue glaze come together in quiet harmony, creating works that feel timeless and inviting for daily use.

Hasami Ware

Hasami ware, a traditional porcelain from Nagasaki Prefecture, has been crafted for over 400 years in the town of Hasami\just about 10 kilometers from Arita, the birthplace of Japanfs porcelain. While Arita ware flourished as an art form known for its elaborate decorations and luxury appeal, Hasami developed as a center for everyday tableware, valued for its practicality and refined simplicity. During the Edo period, Hasami became one of Japanfs main producers of daily-use porcelain, supplying durable and beautifully made pieces to households across the country. That spirit continues today, as Hasami artisans blend traditional craftsmanship with modern design, creating timeless and often playfully charming tableware that fits perfectly into contemporary life.

Dessert Bowl

This small bowl is adaptable for any course. It's an ideal size to serve desserts and sweets. For the main meal, it can hold sunomono (vinegared salad), aemono (dressed dish), nimono (simmered dish), or chinmi (special delicacy). It makes a good individual dish for hot pot or when serving a small portion from a large platter. Small bowls in different shapes and colors add personality and variety to your tablescape.
