Description

Discover the beauty of restoration with the Traditional Japanese Kintsugi Repair Starter Kit, a thoughtfully curated set that introduces you to the centuries-old Japanese art of kintsugi. Rather than hiding cracks and imperfections, kintsugi embraces them, transforming broken ceramics into meaningful pieces that tell a story of resilience, care, and renewal.

Made in Japan by Tsujita Urushi, a respected lacquer specialist, this complete starter kit includes traditional natural urushi lacquer, gold powder, brushes, polishing materials, and essential tools needed to repair chipped or broken pottery. Whether you’re restoring a treasured tea bowl, favorite mug, or family heirloom, each repair becomes a creative and meditative process rooted in Japanese craftsmanship.

Beautifully packaged and suitable for beginners, this kit offers an authentic introduction to one of Japan’s most celebrated traditional arts. It also makes a thoughtful gift for ceramic lovers, artists, and anyone drawn to the philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection.

Why the turpentine oil Bottle Is Empty
The small bottle in your kit is empty on purpose. Turpentine, normally used to clean the brushes, cannot be shipped internationally. Fill it at home with canola or plain salad oil instead. Avoid sesame and olive oil, which leave a sticky residue, and drying oils like linseed or perilla, which harden in the bristles.

Please Note
This kit contains natural urushi lacquer. In rare cases, some individuals may experience skin irritation or an allergic reaction. If irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a physician. Store away from direct sunlight and use the lacquer within one year for best performance. Keep out of reach of children.

FAQ

Can I add a gift message to my order?

Yes. You may add a personalized gift message of up to 250 characters at checkout — it is printed on a card and included inside the package. Prices and order details are never shown on the card or anywhere in the shipment, so the recipient sees only your message and the gift itself.

Will my order be wrapped as a gift?

Yes. Every JOC Goods order is wrapped in a traditional Japanese furoshiki cloth before shipping at no extra charge — both gifts and personal orders. If your order includes many or large items, the furoshiki may be packed inside the box rather than wrapped around them. Prices are never included in any shipment.
