The Spiritual Shaman Chopstick Rest takes inspiration from the Shakoki dogu, the “goggle eyed” clay figurines created during Japan’s Jomon period thousands of years ago. These mysterious figures are thought to have been used in rituals and are admired today as some of the most iconic artifacts of early Japanese culture. With its rounded eyes, carved motifs, and earthy finish, this miniature piece captures the spirit of those ancient forms while transforming it into a playful part of daily dining.

Compact in size yet rich in character, this ceramic rest keeps chopsticks neatly in place and adds an element of history to the table. Its warm clay surface blends naturally with both modern interiors and traditional settings, making it a versatile accent. Beyond its function, it can also be enjoyed as a small decorative piece, displayed on a shelf or alongside plants as a reminder of Japan’s artistic heritage.

Ideal for history lovers, design enthusiasts, or collectors of unique Japanese tableware, it sparks conversation while adding cultural depth to everyday life.

Chopstick Rest

When setting the table for a Japanese meal, chopstick rests (hashioki) are a must-have item. These rests are essential for hygiene so the chopsticks don’t touch the table. They are also a wonderful way to add whimsy, charm, and a personal touch to your table setting. With so many themes and designs to choose, chopstick rests are quite popular to collect. It's fun to switch them up for different seasons, menus, and occasions.

Mino Ware

Mino ware refers to pottery traditionally made in Japan’s eastern Gifu Prefecture, primarily in Tajimi, Toki, Mizunami, and Kani. This ancient method of producing elegant, durable ceramics has roots going back over 1300 years to Japan’s Kofun period in the 7th century. Typically found nested into the mountainsides, the unique kilns used to produce Mino ware are often referred to as anagama kilns, and the master artisans producing these stunning products continue to adhere to rigid standards to produce only the highest quality ceramics.
