Simple yet full of character, the Rustic Earth-Tone Dessert Plate embodies the timeless beauty of Mino Ware. Its snowy white Shino glaze, known as yukishino, creates a soft, satin surface with natural crawling patterns that reveal warm brown and green undertones. This interplay of colors and textures highlights the earthy charm of the stoneware, giving each piece a unique, organic presence that feels both rustic and refined.
Rooted in history, Shino ware developed during the Momoyama period and is celebrated as the first white glaze in Japanese ceramics. The rustic character of this plate makes it a versatile choice for desserts, seasonal wagashi, or small side dishes. It is equally at home in everyday dining and in more formal gatherings, adding a subtle elegance to the table. Whether paired with modern table settings or traditional Japanese meals, the Rustic Earth-Tone Dessert Plate enhances presentation while connecting each dining moment to centuries of ceramic artistry.

Mino ware refers to pottery traditionally made in Japan’s eastern Gifu Prefecture, primarily in Tajimi, Toki, Mizunami, and Kani. This ancient method of producing elegant, durable ceramics has roots going back over 1300 years to Japan’s Kofun period in the 7th century. Typically found nested into the mountainsides, the unique kilns used to produce Mino ware are often referred to as anagama kilns, and the master artisans producing these stunning products continue to adhere to rigid standards to produce only the highest quality ceramics. We offer a flat rate of USD $25 for shipping to the U.S., and Free Shipping on orders over USD $199.
