Description

The Petal Pattern Sauce Dish highlights the elegance of Arita ware with a design that is both functional and decorative. Shaped with delicate scalloped edges, each dish is adorned with a chrysanthemum motif, a flower celebrated in Japan as a symbol of longevity and prosperity. Available in both vivid blue and refined red, the pattern radiates outward from the center, creating a sense of harmony and balance at the table.

Compact in size, this dish is perfect for soy sauce, dipping sauces, or small accompaniments that complete a meal. Its floral form also makes it a charming accent even when not in use, blending easily with a variety of settings. Whether chosen in blue for its cool refinement or in red for its warmth and brightness, each variation brings its own personality to the table.

These pieces can also be paired with other Japanese tableware to create a cohesive collection that blends tradition with modern dining, while celebrating timeless craftsmanship.

More Details

Keizan Kiln

Founded in 1957 by potter Ryuichi and his wife Eiko, Keizan Kiln sits near the Sarugawa valley in Arita, a region with more than 400 years of porcelain history. Now run by the third generation, the family continues to create tableware rooted in warmth and sincerity. Each hand-painted piece carries a gentle sense of care, crafted to bring ease and comfort to daily life while keeping Arita’s long tradition alive for the future.

Arita Ware

Arita ware, Japan’s first porcelain, originated in the early 17th century in the town of Arita, Saga Prefecture. Using pure porcelain stone sourced from the mountains of Amakusa, artisans created brilliantly white ceramics that quickly became celebrated for their beauty and strength. During the Edo period, Arita grew into a major center of porcelain production, with its works exported to Europe through the port of Imari, where they captivated collectors and royal courts alike. Today, Arita ware continues to embody the harmony of artistry and function, bringing timeless elegance to modern dining around the world.

Sauce Dish

Tiny plates are useful in a number of ways. They're handy dishes for holding condiments, dry seasonings like salt and pepper, soy sauce for sashimi, small delicacies, or pickles. Mini plates are also quite popular to collect thanks to their compact size, variety of designs, and visual impact on the dining table.
