Description

The Chrysanthemum Wave Dessert Plate is a refined piece of Imari Nabeshima Ware, inspired by the timeless beauty of the chrysanthemum flower. Its scalloped form mirrors delicate petals, while the center features the traditional seigaiha wave motif, symbolizing prosperity and continuity. Rendered in either vivid red or deep blue, the design highlights the harmony of floral and geometric patterns, uniting elegance with cultural meaning.

The gently sloping sides make this plate practical for serving cakes, pastries, or seasonal fruits, while its refined shape ensures it stands beautifully on display. Each plate reflects the artistry and precision of Japanese porcelain, offering both functionality and visual charm.

Beyond its role at the table, the Chrysanthemum Wave Dessert Plate carries layers of symbolism. More Details

Seizan Kiln

Founded in 1883 in Imari, Saga Prefecture, Seizan Kiln continues the distinguished style of Nabeshima ware, once made as gifts for Japan’s feudal lords. While preserving the refined colors and painting techniques of traditional Nabeshima ware, the kiln explores new expressions that bring timeless beauty into modern life. Each work balances heritage and creativity, expressing the quiet elegance and artistry that define Imari craftsmanship.

Imari Nabeshima Ware

Imari Nabeshima ware originated in Okawachiyama, Saga Prefecture, during the early Edo period under the patronage of the Nabeshima clan. Produced exclusively for shoguns and feudal lords, it represented the height of Japanese porcelain artistry. Each piece was crafted with precision and decorated in styles such as iro-Nabeshima with overglaze enamel, ai-Nabeshima in cobalt blue, and Nabeshima seiji with a soft celadon finish. After the Meiji Restoration, new artisans continued its legacy, preserving the refined beauty and balance that define this distinguished tradition.
