The Chrysanthemum Navy Blue Dessert Bowl shines with a luminous glaze and a depth of color that draws the eye. Known as giyaman, this style recalls the glassware admired during the Edo period, where the word described shimmering surfaces that seemed to hold light. The chrysanthemum petal design radiates from the center, creating a play of shadow and reflection that feels both timeless and modern.

Elegant enough for formal occasions yet practical for daily meals, this piece has been admired internationally, from the Christian Dior flagship store in Paris to banquets at the Palace of Versailles. Its refined presence pairs beautifully with Japanese cuisine and Western dishes alike, making it a versatile favorite in any collection.

Ideal for fruit, salads, or desserts, it also serves well as an individual bowl for shared dishes. With each use, the deep navy glaze transforms simple foods into vivid presentations, bringing a quiet sense of celebration to both everyday dining and special gatherings.

Mino Ware

Mino ware refers to pottery traditionally made in Japan’s eastern Gifu Prefecture, primarily in Tajimi, Toki, Mizunami, and Kani. This ancient method of producing elegant, durable ceramics has roots going back over 1300 years to Japan’s Kofun period in the 7th century. Typically found nested into the mountainsides, the unique kilns used to produce Mino ware are often referred to as anagama kilns, and the master artisans producing these stunning products continue to adhere to rigid standards to produce only the highest quality ceramics.
