These stunning cedar sake glasses bring quiet elegance to your sake tasting while adding aromatic cedar aromas to the warm sake. The graceful lines of these cups have been carefully shaped to sit comfortably in your hand, with the wide center of the cup nesting perfectly in your fingers. The hand-carved cedar cups taper gently upward, thinning to the ideal thickness at the top. Since natural wood is used, individual differences appear in the grain, knots, and color. Each cup displays the wood's natural grain patterns, characteristics, and color, lending subtle individuality to each piece, while the overall thickness lends a weighty feel to these cedar cups. These sake cups are made in small workshops by master woodworkers, with each cup lathe carved from a solid piece of cedar.
These sake cups are crafted in workshops renowned for producing traditional paulownia chests designed to protect high-end kimonos from moisture and insects, showcasing their exceptional woodworking skills. Each cup is meticulously lathe-carved from a solid piece of cedar wood.

The most common type is o-choko, a smaller cup that often comes in a set with a carafe (tokkuri). Another popular type is the slightly larger guinomi. Sake cups are made from clay, porcelain, glass, lacquerware, and even tin. A cup's material and shape are said to affect the aroma and flavor of the sake. These cups are a popular collectible tableware item.
