Cherry Bark Work
Cherry bark work, known as Kabazaiku, is a traditional craft from Kakunodate in Akita Prefecture, northern Japan. It dates back to the late 18th century, when local samurai developed this unique technique using the bark of mountain cherry trees. The bark’s smooth sheen and deep natural color give each piece a warm, elegant finish that grows richer over time. Valued for its strength and ability to regulate humidity, it is ideal for tea canisters, trays, and other daily items. Passed down for more than 250 years, Kabazaiku continues to reflect the refined craftsmanship and quiet beauty of Japan’s northern tradition.
Tea Scoop
Japanese tea scoops are compact with an elongated bowl shape and gentle curves. They're designed for easy measurement of Japanese loose tea without crushing their delicate rolled leaves. They pair with Japanese tea caddies to make a thoughtful gift set. You can also use them to measure other dry goods like sesame seeds or ground coffee.
