Description

The Modern Indigo Lattice Cup highlights the timeless beauty of indigo porcelain through a bold yet refined lattice motif. The indigo lines are precisely rendered, creating a clean geometric pattern that feels both contemporary and rooted in tradition. The crisp white porcelain background enhances the depth of the design, offering a balance of simplicity and elegance.

With its gently tapered form, the cup is comfortable to hold and versatile in use. While ideal for serving tea, it is equally well-suited for coffee, sake, or even chilled beverages, making it a practical choice for everyday dining. Its minimalist design pairs seamlessly with both Japanese and Western tableware, blending function with artistry.

Part of the Modern Indigo Series, the Lattice pattern can be coordinated with rice bowls, sauce dishes, salad and dinner plates, and dessert plates. Whether enjoyed on its own or alongside other pieces in the collection, it brings a touch of modern sophistication to daily life.

More Details

Shoei Kiln

Founded in 1969 in the Hizen region, Shoei Kiln began as a maker of ceramic clay and later expanded into full pottery production. In Hasami, where work is usually divided among specialists, the kiln stands out for completing every stage in-house, from preparing raw clay to firing. This integrated process ensures consistency and quality in every piece. Balancing tradition with innovation, Shoei Kiln creates tableware that brings color, comfort, and reliability to everyday life.

Hasami ware

The lineage of Hasami ware porcelain dates back over 400 years, and modern artisans still use many of the same time-honored methods to create their stunning pieces. Hasami ware, originating from the town of Hasami, shares close ties to porcelain from the Arita region of Japan, but each style produces its own unique pieces.

Teacup

Japanese teacups called yunomi jawan (湯呑み茶碗) are designed for enjoying hot green tea like sencha, hojicha, and genmaicha. Selecting a teacup that suits your preferences can enhance your enjoyment of this traditional beverage. How the cup looks, feels, and even sounds are important factors to consider. The cup's shape, height, and width can affect the tea's aroma, too. Consider the material, thickness, texture, glaze, style, and decoration of the cup to best suit the occasion and your mood. Japanese teacups are fun to collect and make a special gift for fans of Japanese green tea.
