Description

Inspired by traditional Japanese utensils, the Vintage Arc Chopsticks feature a graceful curved design based on ancient bamboo tongs once used for cooking and serving. The arch-shaped handle fits comfortably in the hand, offering a sense of balance and control, while the lacquered tips provide a smooth and precise grip.

Crafted from natural wood and finished with a refined lacquer coating, these chopsticks are both beautiful and durable. Their unique shape makes them especially useful for serving shared dishes, arranging garnishes, or lifting noodles with care. Whether used at the table or in the kitchen, they offer a thoughtful blend of form and function.

Available in Midnight Black or Imperial Red, each pair adds quiet richness to your table. Their elegant lines and distinctive silhouette pair well with both modern and traditional Japanese Tableware. Practical, refined, and rooted in tradition, the Vintage Arc Chopsticks bring timeless character to everyday dining.

More Details

Wakasa Lacquerware

As Japan’s foremost lacquerware region specializing in chopsticks, Wakasa lacquerware has been crafted for over 400 years in Fukui Prefecture. Developed in the coastal city of Obama, this tradition grew from daily life rather than formality, focusing on creating chopsticks that are durable, comfortable to hold, and beautifully finished for long-term use. Today, Wakasa remains Japan’s largest production center for lacquered chopsticks, carrying forward a legacy of craftsmanship that balances practicality, beauty, and lasting quality for the modern table.

Serveware

Japanese serveware includes serving chopsticks, sauce pourers, tea rests, and cake knives and servers. These pieces are not only functional but can also enhance presentation and support the tableware with their decorative form. High-quality serveware is often collectible and can remain in service for years to come.

FAQ

Is Japanese lacquerware dishwasher safe?

Generally, no. Traditional Japanese lacquerware, including lacquered chopsticks, miso soup bowls, Oryoki bowls, and serving trays, should be hand-washed. Dishwasher heat, strong detergents, prolonged moisture, and contact with other items can gradually damage the lacquer finish or wooden base.

Wash lacquerware with warm water and a soft sponge, then dry it promptly with a soft cloth. Avoid prolonged soaking, abrasive cleaners, and scrub brushes. Even when labeled dishwasher safe, we strongly recommend hand-washing all lacquerware to preserve its finish and beauty over time.

Can I add a gift message to my order?

Yes. You may add a personalized gift message of up to 250 characters at checkout — it is printed on a card and included inside the package. Prices and order details are never shown on the card or anywhere in the shipment, so the recipient sees only your message and the gift itself.

Will my order be wrapped as a gift?

Yes. Every JOC Goods order is wrapped in a traditional Japanese furoshiki cloth before shipping at no extra charge — both gifts and personal orders. If your order includes many or large items, the furoshiki may be packed inside the box rather than wrapped around them. Prices are never included in any shipment.
