This Rustic Scallop-Edged Oval Salad Plate brings subtle texture and timeless character to the table. Crafted in Arita ware, it features a softly scalloped rim that gently frames the dish without overpowering its form. The rim is accented in your choice of blue, olive, or brown, creating a warm contrast against the clean white porcelain.
The oval shape and slightly raised edge make it ideal for presenting composed salads, grilled vegetables, sliced meats, or shared appetizers. Its generous surface area allows for elegant plating, while the minimal yet tactile design lends itself beautifully to both everyday meals and seasonal gatherings. The faint irregularity in the rim detail adds a sense of handmade charm, blending seamlessly with both rustic and contemporary table settings.
As part of a thoughtfully designed series, this plate pairs easily with matching bowls, sauce dishes, and more. A quiet but expressive piece that invites creativity at the table and celebrates the gentle harmony of form, texture, and glaze.

Hizen Yoshida Ware
Hizen Yoshida ware originates from the historic Hizen region spanning Saga and Nagasaki Prefectures. Its roots trace back to 1598, when porcelain making began in the Yoshida area of Ureshino under the patronage of the Nabeshima clan. Using fine local clay and porcelain stone, artisans refined their skills alongside Arita ware while developing a simple, graceful style of their own. Today, local kilns continue to produce porcelain that blends timeless craftsmanship with designs suited to modern living.
Salad Plate
Medium plates are ideal for individual salads, appetizers, side dishes, and breakfast toast, or to serve individual portions from a family-style platter. This is also the perfect size plate for the main dish in the traditional Japanese washoku meal called ichiju sansai.
