Description

Embodying quiet elegance, the Antique White Porcelain Sauce Dish is a refined piece crafted in Japan’s historic Arita region. Its distinctive mokko shape, often found in traditional Japanese crests and architecture, brings a gentle sense of rhythm and soft geometry to the table. The pale white glaze shows delicate variation and faint speckling, evoking the timeless charm of antique porcelain.

This small dish is ideal for serving condiments, pickles, or sweets. Its shallow form also suits seasonal sauces or small side bites. The softly fluted edges not only enhance its visual appeal but also help frame the contents with care and subtlety.

Made from fine porcelain and carefully glazed for smoothness, this piece fits seamlessly into both traditional and modern Japanese Tableware collections. Whether used for daily meals or brought out on special occasions, it adds a quiet sense of refinement and cultural depth to any setting.

Arita Ware

Arita ware, Japanfs first porcelain, originated in the early 17th century in the town of Arita, Saga Prefecture. Using pure porcelain stone sourced from the mountains of Amakusa, artisans created brilliantly white ceramics that quickly became celebrated for their beauty and strength. During the Edo period, Arita grew into a major center of porcelain production, with its works exported to Europe through the port of Imari, where they captivated collectors and royal courts alike. Today, Arita ware continues to embody the harmony of artistry and function, bringing timeless elegance to modern dining around the world.

Sauce Dish

Tiny plates are useful in a number of ways. They're handy dishes for holding condiments, dry seasonings like salt and pepper, soy sauce for sashimi, small delicacies, or pickles. Mini plates are also quite popular to collect thanks to their compact size, variety of designs, and visual impact on the dining table.
