Description

The Black Checked Sake Cup combines timeless tradition with a bold, modern edge. Its indigo checkered pattern is hand-painted with refined brushwork by skilled Hasami artisans. Framed with subtle gold lines and set on a deep black pedestal base, the design carries both contrast and harmony, giving the cup a distinctive presence.

Comfortably sized to rest in the palm, the cup invites you to slow down and enjoy the aroma and flavor of sake with ease. The raised base adds balance and a sense of refinement, while the checkered motif bridges classic Japanese design with a contemporary look.

Ideal for intimate dinners or festive gatherings, this sake cup enriches the ritual of drinking by turning each pour into a quiet moment of appreciation. Whether enjoyed alone or collected as part of a matching set, it brings artistry and character to the table.

More Details

Hasami ware

Hasami ware, a traditional porcelain from Nagasaki Prefecture, has been crafted for over 400 years in the town of Hasami\just about 10 kilometers from Arita, the birthplace of Japanfs porcelain. While Arita ware flourished as an art form known for its elaborate decorations and luxury appeal, Hasami developed as a center for everyday tableware, valued for its practicality and refined simplicity. During the Edo period, Hasami became one of Japanfs main producers of daily-use porcelain, supplying durable and beautifully made pieces to households across the country. That spirit continues today, as Hasami artisans blend traditional craftsmanship with modern design, creating timeless and often playfully charming tableware that fits perfectly into contemporary life.

Sake Cup

Japanese sake cups are small drinking cups that come in a variety of shapes and sizes for ceremonial occasions to everyday use. The most common type is o-choko, a smaller cup that often comes in a set with a carafe (tokkuri). Another popular type is the slightly larger guinomi. Sake cups are made from clay, porcelain, glass, lacquerware, and even tin. A cup's material and shape are said to affect the aroma and flavor of the sake. These cups are a popular collectible tableware item.
