Description

Celebrate one of Japan’s most iconic artworks with the Blue Hokusai Wave Dinner Plate, a striking porcelain piece featuring The Great Wave off Kanagawa at its center. Rendered in delicate sometsuke (cobalt underglaze), the dynamic wave towers over distant Mt. Fuji, encircled by panels of intricate red and blue geometric patterns in the Shonzui style.

Measuring 11 inches (28 cm) in diameter, this large Japanese dinner plate is ideal for showcasing main dishes, sushi assortments, or festive servings. Made in Japan, its bold yet refined design blends timeless ukiyo-e imagery with traditional craftsmanship. Whether used for entertaining or display, the Blue Hokusai Wave Dinner Plate brings depth, movement, and artistry to your table.

Mino Ware

Mino ware refers to pottery traditionally made in Japan’s eastern Gifu Prefecture, primarily in Tajimi, Toki, Mizunami, and Kani. This ancient method of producing elegant, durable ceramics has roots going back over 1300 years to Japan’s Kofun period in the 7th century. Typically found nested into the mountainsides, the unique kilns used to produce Mino ware are often referred to as anagama kilns, and the master artisans producing these stunning products continue to adhere to rigid standards to produce only the highest quality ceramics.
