The Watermelon Lidded Condiment Bowl is a playful yet refined piece of Arita ware, crafted with meticulous hand-painting that captures the charm of a ripe summer fruit. When closed, the bowl resembles a whole watermelon, while opening it reveals a vivid red interior with black seeds, adding a delightful surprise to the dining table. Each bowl carries subtle variations from its handmade process, giving it a character all its own.

Perfectly sized for condiments, sauces, or small bites, it also serves beautifully as a container for sweets or trinkets. The lid keeps contents covered, making it both decorative and practical. Whether used on its own or paired with other fruit-inspired porcelain, this whimsical bowl brings a touch of joy and artistry to daily dining. It also makes a memorable gift that combines Japanese craftsmanship with a sense of fun.

Condiment Bowl

These small bowls come in many shapes and serve different purposes. They are generally suitable for condiments, dry seasonings like salt, garnishes, toppings, soy sauce for sashimi, pickles, small delicacies, and butter and jam. Deeper small dishes shaped like a cup are suitable for noodle dipping sauce. Tiny bowls are a popular size to collect thanks to their visual interest, compact size, and usefulness.

Arita Ware

Arita porcelain originates from an area known as Arita on the Island of Kyushu, Japan. It is known as the birthplace of fine Japanese porcelain, and the artisans of Arita have produced exceptional ceramic works for more than 400 years. The beautiful contrast between the porcelain and the hand-painting is obtained by using exceptionally high-quality porcelain stone, allowing the glazed surface to display a distinct glossy mirror with a rich ivory luster.
