The Oden Chopstick Rest brings a touch of playfulness and Japanese culture to your dining table. Inspired by the comforting flavors of oden, a traditional Japanese hot pot enjoyed during the colder months, this rest is shaped like classic ingredients such as fish cake, tofu, and vegetables. Its whimsical design adds charm and creativity, turning a simple table setting into a conversation piece that delights both guests and family alike.

Crafted from fine Arita ware porcelain, each chopstick rest reflects the artistry and heritage of one of Japan’s most celebrated ceramic traditions. Skilled artisans carefully form and glaze every piece, giving it a unique character while ensuring durability for everyday use. More than just functional, chopstick rests are a small but essential element of Japanese dining etiquette, keeping chopsticks clean while elevating the overall presentation of the meal. With its playful design and cultural significance, the Oden Chopstick Rest is a delightful addition to any collection of Japanese tableware.

Chopstick Rest

When setting the table for a Japanese meal, chopstick rests (hashioki) are a must-have item. These rests are essential for hygiene so the chopsticks don’t touch the table. They are also a wonderful way to add whimsy, charm, and a personal touch to your table setting. With so many themes and designs to choose, chopstick rests are quite popular to collect. It's fun to switch them up for different seasons, menus, and occasions.

Arita Ware

Arita porcelain originates from an area known as Arita on the Island of Kyushu, Japan. It is known as the birthplace of fine Japanese porcelain, and the artisans of Arita have produced exceptional ceramic works for more than 400 years. The beautiful contrast between the porcelain and the hand-painting is obtained by using exceptionally high-quality porcelain stone, allowing the glazed surface to display a distinct glossy mirror with a rich ivory luster.
