Description

Bring comfort and tradition to your table with the Ginpo Kikka Lapis 3-Cup Rice Donabe. This clay pot combines the timeless appeal of donabe cooking with the convenience of induction compatibility, making it an essential piece for the modern kitchen.

The double-lid system prevents boil-overs while sealing in steam, allowing rice to cook evenly with a fluffy finish in about 30 minutes. A built-in water line makes measuring easy, and the pot can also be used for stews, soups, and other everyday dishes. Its special glazing offers excellent heat retention, and the donabe is safe for induction, oven, radiant, and direct flame cooking.

The lid, finished in a rich lapis-blue glaze, features a chrysanthemum motif that adds elegance to its practical design. Perfect for three cups of rice, this donabe is a versatile tool that transforms simple meals into warm, memorable moments.

More Details

Banko Ware

Originating in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture, Banko ware dates back to the mid-Edo period, when merchant and tea enthusiast Nunami Rozan began producing tea utensils in the region. Designated as a National Traditional Craft of Japan in 1979, it is known for its heat resistance and durability, making it ideal for donabe and teapots. Made from semi-porcelain clay rich in minerals, each piece withstands direct heat while retaining warmth efficiently. Balancing strength, practicality, and simple elegance, it remains an essential part of daily life in Japan.

Rice Donabe

A rice donabe is a type of traditional Japanese earthenware pot specifically designed for cooking perfect short-grain rice. The double-lid construction regulates steam and prevents boilovers, while the thick clay body ensures gentle, even heat. The result is rice with exceptional sweetness, aroma, and texture. Artisan pieces are as versatile as they are beautiful, excelling at cooking soups, stews, and braised dishes. With proper handling and maintenance, they can be used for years to come.
