Description
The Scattered Arabesque Dessert Plate features a dense variation of the classic karakusa motif. Fine indigo vines curl across the entire white porcelain surface, and small darker leaves are scattered evenly among them, giving the pattern a lively, all-over texture. A deep blue band outlines the rim. This traditional design of endlessly winding vines symbolizes long life and lasting connections in Japan.
Made from durable Mino ware, this compact plate is ideal for serving desserts, seasonal wagashi, or small side dishes. Its slightly raised rim lets it take a little sauce or syrup, and the smooth glaze brings out the fine detail of the vines. Because the pattern covers the whole plate, a single sweet or a few bites look complete without much arranging.
Its modest size makes it easy to use for everyday meals and to coordinate with other blue-and-white Japanese plates, whether on its own or as part of a larger table setting.

Mino Ware
Mino ware is a traditional pottery from Gifu Prefecture with a history of more than 1,300 years. Its origins trace back to the Nara period, when early potters began producing simple earthenware. During the Momoyama period (late 16th century), Mino became Japan’s leading center for ceramics, giving rise to distinctive styles such as Shino, Oribe, and Kizeto—each deeply connected to the aesthetics of the Japanese tea ceremony. Today, as Japan’s largest pottery-producing region, Mino continues to evolve with contemporary life, blending timeless craftsmanship with modern design to support the way people eat and live every day.Dessert Plate
