The Handcrafted Oval Hinoki Bento Box brings timeless Japanese elegance and practicality to your lunch routine. Made using the traditional magewappa technique, thin strips of hinoki cypress are steamed, bent into shape, and joined without the use of glue or harmful adhesives. The natural wood regulates moisture to keep rice soft and fresh, while the gentle cedar scent adds a pleasant sensory quality to every meal.

Lightweight and beautifully shaped, the oval form fits comfortably in a bag and is easy to carry. The clean, natural aesthetic suits a wide range of lunch settings, from a quiet desk meal to a park picnic. A lasting piece of Japanese craftsmanship that improves with use and makes an especially meaningful gift.

Bento Boxes

Designed for beautifully balanced, portable meals enjoyed at room temperature, they reflect Japan’s appreciation for nutrition, aesthetics, and presentation. Bento boxes are designed for durability and form, and traditional magewappa bento boxes remain a favorite for their natural beauty and craftsmanship.

FAQ

Can I add a gift message to my order?

Yes. You may add a personalized gift message of up to 250 characters at checkout — it is printed on a card and included inside the package. Prices and order details are never shown on the card or anywhere in the shipment, so the recipient sees only your message and the gift itself.

Will my order be wrapped as a gift?

Yes. Every JOC Goods order is wrapped in a traditional Japanese furoshiki cloth before shipping at no extra charge — both gifts and personal orders. If your order includes many or large items, the furoshiki may be packed inside the box rather than wrapped around them. Prices are never included in any shipment.
