Description

The Peony Quince Dessert Plate features softly fluted edges shaped in the traditional mokko (quince) shape, a form rooted in Japanese decorative arts and often associated with harmony and protection. At the center, a hand-painted indigo peony blooms gracefully, adding a touch of seasonal elegance. The balance between floral detail and white space gives this piece a calm, refined presence.

Crafted from smooth Hasami ware porcelain, this plate is ideal for desserts, fruit, or small appetizers. The gently curved edges and shallow form create a sense of openness, allowing for beautiful presentation. The glossy finish highlights the contrast between the deep blue pigment and the clean porcelain surface.

Versatile enough to pair with both modern and traditional settings, the Peony Quince Dessert Plate brings warmth and cultural richness to the table. Whether used for special occasions or as part of a daily ritual, it adds a graceful note to your Japanese Tableware collection.

More Details

Kourin Kiln

Founded in 1987 by potter Mitsuaki Ezoe, Kourin Kiln creates tableware that celebrates the serene beauty of hand-painted Gosu, the traditional cobalt-blue pigment used in Japanese ceramics. Each piece is painted by hand without stamps or transfers, using the kiln’s own pigments to bring subtle depth and individuality to every design. The smooth white porcelain and flowing blue glaze come together in quiet harmony, creating works that feel timeless and inviting for daily use.

Hasami Ware

The lineage of Hasami ware porcelain dates back over 400 years, and modern artisans still use many of the same time-honored methods to create their stunning pieces. Hasami ware, originating from the town of Hasami, shares close ties to porcelain from the Arita region of Japan, but each style produces its own unique pieces.

Dessert Plate

Smaller plates can add wonderful visual interest to your table setting. This size is useful anytime of day to serve appetizers, cold tofu, side dishes, a slice of cake, snacks, and wagashi (Japanese confectioneries). Have fun collecting different colors and shapes to spice up your table.
