Description

The Modern Indigo River Sauce Dish showcases the refined artistry of Hasami ware, a craft with centuries of history in Japanese Tableware. Its rectangular form is decorated with bold indigo blocks arranged in flowing rhythm, a contemporary interpretation that suggests the quiet movement of water. The clean design and deep blue pattern create a balance of tradition and modernity, making it a versatile accent for any table setting.

With gently sloped edges, this dish is perfectly suited for sauces, condiments, and small accompaniments. It also works beautifully for individual portions of pickles or side dishes, bringing both elegance and practicality to the dining table.

As part of the Modern Indigo series, the River Sauce Dish can be paired with coordinating pieces such as dessert plates, dinner plates, rice bowls, and cups. Whether used on its own or in combination, it enriches everyday meals with timeless craftsmanship and thoughtful design.

More Details

Shoei Kiln

Founded in 1969 in the Hizen region, Shoei Kiln began as a maker of ceramic clay and later expanded into full pottery production. In Hasami, where work is usually divided among specialists, the kiln stands out for completing every stage in-house, from preparing raw clay to firing. This integrated process ensures consistency and quality in every piece. Balancing tradition with innovation, Shoei Kiln creates tableware that brings color, comfort, and reliability to everyday life.

Hasami ware

The lineage of Hasami ware porcelain dates back over 400 years, and modern artisans still use many of the same time-honored methods to create their stunning pieces. Hasami ware, originating from the town of Hasami, shares close ties to porcelain from the Arita region of Japan, but each style produces its own unique pieces.

Sauce Dish

Tiny plates are useful in a number of ways. They're handy dishes for holding condiments, dry seasonings like salt and pepper, soy sauce for sashimi, small delicacies, or pickles. Mini plates are also quite popular to collect thanks to their compact size, variety of designs, and visual impact on the dining table.
