Description
The Blue Rim Chrysanthemum Dessert Plate is shaped like a chrysanthemum in full bloom, with fluted petals that radiate from the center to a scalloped edge. A thin indigo line, painted by hand, follows the scallops just inside the rim, and a brown edge finishes the outline against the white Arita ware porcelain. The plate comes from Kajiken Seiji, a kiln in the Kuromuta district of Arita that has produced porcelain for more than 250 years.
Sized for sweets, fruit, or small side dishes, the plate has a plain white center that keeps the focus on the food. Unlike most flat white ceramic dessert plates, it has fluted petals that catch the light and give the surface a gentle texture. The simple form pairs easily with other Japanese plates, whether modern or traditional. In Japan, the chrysanthemum has long been a symbol of longevity, which also makes the plate a meaningful gift.

Arita Ware
Arita ware, Japan’s first porcelain, originated in the early 17th century in the town of Arita, Saga Prefecture. Using pure porcelain stone sourced from the mountains of Amakusa, artisans created brilliantly white ceramics that quickly became celebrated for their beauty and strength. During the Edo period, Arita grew into a major center of porcelain production, with its works exported to Europe through the port of Imari, where they captivated collectors and royal courts alike. Today, Arita ware continues to embody the harmony of artistry and function, bringing timeless elegance to modern dining around the world.Dessert Plate
